I've recently started using TLA+, and the mathematical syntax was a big turnoff initially. Took two weeks before the entire approach "clicked", and now it's second nature and I like it a lot. If you need to think differently (as in TLA+), I think having a different syntax that reflects the different thinking is a good idea.
