I wonder how many people agree with these statements and which ones:
- The Delta variant is more virulent but less lethal than the previous variants
- There will be additional variants (lambda is already here)
- Certain masks are reasonably effective (N95, KN95, multiple layers)
- Certain masks are much less effective (garter)
- Masks are sometimes worn incorrectly or intentionally ineffectively
- Many children under 12 don't wear masks
- Mask mandates are sometimes compliance indicators (wear masks onto plane, take off mask to eat and drink, people sitting inside airline terminals for hours on end maskless eating and drinking and not eating and not drinking)
- Allowing maskless outdoor dining results in transmission and was only done to prevent mass outcry from small businesses. Many of these so called outdoor seating areas are de facto indoors. There have been transmissions between vaccinated people in these outdoor venues. Some had symptoms.
- YouTube and the tech platforms have become the dominant venues of public discourse. The tech platforms have significant power to control discourse. This power spans countries.

Those viral loads seem pretty darn high for vaccinated people. Vaccine entry mandates don't seem to make as much sense as masks for everyone who hasn't gotten it yet, vaccines for those who want them, and COVID cards for those who have caught the virus. The people who recovered seem to be the most resistant to new strains. They don't need masks. Masks the whole time in planes. Masks for small children too. N95 or KN95 or triple layer cloth. Outdoor dining ok if all four sides are open else shut it down. That seems to be what the science says if you want to maximize saved lives? Figuring out best course seems much harder with economic and social costs.
- babesh 5y agoPrediction. Tech companies are going to delay openings again or workers will remain masked for months. Former is more likely. My reasoning. They will realize that either those people are going to be masked all day or they are going to have mass Delta outbreaks amongst the vaccinated.
