If YouTube had been around in the 50s, they’d be banning kooks who claimed smoking wasn’t healthy for you.

- danuker 5y agoIn the 1600s they'd ban people for claiming the Earth is not the center of the Solar System.

- jiggawatts 5y agoGlobal cooling was never the accepted science, that's an urban legend, like the "we only use 10% of our brains" thing. Global warming was suspected as far back as the late 1800s, and well established by the 1970s.

- kbelder 5y agoI was there, and global cooling was on the evening news and the covers of magazines. I can't speak to scientific consensus at the time, but I know it was considered such in popular media.
