I would love to see Apple forced to allow alternate app stores, which this bill also seems to require.
And since both app stores charge a 30% fee, I can really only see this helping consumers in the end. Epic demonstrated it pretty well when they were willing to offer half off to customers who pay outside the app store. Apps would allow you to likely still purchase the 'easy way', but could give a discount if you use a sane processor that charges the standard ~3% fee versus 30%.
- rahkiin 5y agoI see plenty games on the Epic Game store that are the same consumer price as on Steam; only the developer pockets the difference.
- jjcon 5y agoAnd presumably they can both be priced cheaper because some of the revenue is made up from the lower cut epic takes
- judge2020 5y agoEpic doesn't release it on Steam because they don't want to support the Steam platform at all; worse for consumers in choosing which 'app store' to use, easier for developers to have their cake and eat it too.
- shagie 5y agoI await the Mac version of Borderlands 3 on Steam. This remains an Epic Game store exclusive.
