We currently have best developer machines ever in the history of development, and we squandered it all with bloat so much that we need to use a thin client to do development? That too on a platform where they can easily snoop on your code, collect whatever metrics they like and use it against you (one way or another)? No thank you. Call me a luddite if you will, but I feel that the developers should be wary about protecting their craft. This will end up with BigCos turning this into another Social Dilemma type scenario.
