Programmatic ads are no longer allowed on Reddit
- mattl 5y agoOr UTF-8 it seems
- donohoe 5y agoYeah, that bugged me too.
- kazinator 5y agoYou are incorrect; that is UTF-8 all right! If you manually change the encoding of the page to Unicode, the mangled character renders. The page just neglects to publish the correct content encoding HTTP header. What's apparently not allowed on Reddit is rather the poor old ASCII apostrophe.
- wodenokoto 5y agoThe txt file is UTF-8, but it gets decoded by your browser as ascii (or "western" on my Firefox) I know you can write in a html file, that the file is supposed to be read as utf-8, but how do you tell a system that your txt file has a particular formatting?
- mattl 5y agoAddDefaultCharset utf-8 in Apache, I believe.
- shakna 5y agoIf you've downloaded a file, the system will guess in it's own way, and your viewers and editors will have their own settings. If, however, you meant how the site is supposed to tell your browser how to interpret a file, it's in the Content-Type HTTP header. [0] In this case, setting something like: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 [0] https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Content-Type https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Co...
- nefitty 5y agoWhat is a programmatic ad in this case? This link just shows a system message
- shakna 5y agoThere used to be an API you could use to create & manage advertising campaigns. This no longer exists.
