A carbon tax is more reasonable than a ban. There's plenty of things that generate CO2 that have questionable value. It's much simpler to try to price in the externalities, than legislate value judgments.
- bcrl 5y agoIn the real world that doesn't work. Instead, miners will just move their equipment to locales where the cost of the externalities is unregulated and therefore omitted. Sadly, one of the core flaws of capitalism, not that we have anything much better as an option.
