My favorite thing about Firefox is the "Multi-Account Containers" extension.

It's really handy when having a private Microsoft account as well as an enterprise account. If I don't use this, my MS sessions get all mixed up.
- rplnt 5y agoIsn't this included in FF by default? At least I use it and don't see it in my extensions. Only thing I'm missing is automatic containers for certain domains (as it works with FB).
- sjagoe 5y agoFF supports containers used by that extension natively; I think the extension basically adds some UI around it.
- beermonster 5y agoMulti-Account Containers[1] is a Firefox add-on that lets you separate your work, shopping, or personal browsing without having to clear your history, log in and out, or use multiple browsers. It's an improved version of the Containers feature built into Firefox Nightly and available to advanced users by setting certain preferences (see below). - declnz 5y agoYou can (one-time) set up domains to always load in certain containers, that works well for me.
- acomjean 5y agoI’m confused by this as well. It seems like a feature I would like to use without an add-on but they don’t seem to make it easy to find.
- beermonster 5y agoAlso traditionally NoScript though I believe there are equivalents now for Chrome too?
- c618b9b695c4 5y agoWhich is still missing a key feature - I want to be able to independently clear history/cookies on a per container basis. Give me a 'garbage' container for general browsing that is flushed by default, but bespoke Netflix/Github/etc containers that retain cookies forever.
- _ZeD_ 5y agoisn't this already achievable with containers and also private browsing?

- jdlshore 5y agoCookie AutoDelete will do the trick. It has per-container deletion rules.
- vetinari 5y agoAt least for cookies, Cookie Manager extension can do exactly that.
- cmg 5y agoI've been using the Temporary Containers addon for this and it's been good so far: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-containers/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-con...
- alksjdalkj 5y agoI think you can kind of do this now? The Temporary Containers plugin will create throwaway containers but you can also create permanent site-specific containers.
- skeeter2020 5y agoI don't understand why you can't quickly set this up? To independently clear on a container-basis, why not just delete the container? Stop treating your containers like pets and start treating them like livestock.
- stinos 5y agoAlso nice to seperate social media/shopping/banking/... I'm not 100% sure it completely prevents social media company X from knowing which items you searched for or bought from Y, but at least it should be a lot harder.
- sanatgersappa 5y agoMy fav feature is the Temporary Containers extension. Using that, I never run out of my quota of "free" articles on news sites that keep count.
- GNOMES 5y ago... that is a brilliant use case for that.
- whoisthemachine 5y agoBrilliant, I've been struggling with this, and this solution didn't occur to me!
- wintermutestwin 5y agoSo much this! I have multiple business entities that all use separate accounts on many different services. I use the Window Titler extension and different windows for each business entity. This is the only way I can keep them all straight and it makes switching roles so easy. I just wish Firefox allowed me to Move Tab to a specific already opened window - seems like such a simple addition. Unfortunately one of the services doesn't function properly on Firefox and so I have a constant nightmare of sign-in / sign-out / disable automatic sign-in (that somehow get auto checked) on de-googled Chrome.
- clscott 5y agoI use the Window Titler extension to give my windows names and the Tab Mover extension to move tabs between windows. This way I name windows after a project and as needed I'll move a tab there if I happen to open it in the wrong window. As a tab hoarder this has really enhanced my organization and ability to find things again.
