A math professor of mine said that the first step to solve a math problem was to know the answer.
I remember during my first year buying a book called something like 1000 limit problems. I "just" did about 300. It was definitely pattern matching and nothing Mathematica wouldn't do better than me.

Before I put pencil on paper I need to have a rough idea why something is true. The books sounds fascinating. Can you provide a link to this book?
- linspace 5y agoUnfortunately I cannot find a link. It was a fat blue soft cover book from what I recall from about 20 years ago
