US job openings soar to 10M for first time as companies struggle to hire
- ev1 5y agohere it's super simple - allow remote, not hybrid, not "back to office after covid" on any job that can (not because you want asses in seats, but because the job duties are doable) - pay livable wages there, your hiring problem is solved - nb: if you (not don't want to, but actually can't) can't afford to pay livable wages your business probably shouldn't exist
- greenyoda 5y agoThe article says: > And as companies sought to hire, they had to compete for workers, many of whom appeared uninterested in taking the work that was available, largely retail, leisure and hospitality jobs. You can't really do these types of jobs remotely.
- streetcat1 5y agoActually you should pay a wage that clear the market. Not that different from the price of tomatoes. Moreover, if you cannot pay market clearing wage (I.e. cannot make a profit after employee costs), you should close your business. What you see are businesses that exist as an arbitrage on employee salary - I.e. paying less than the market rate to put the profit in the owner pocket.
