This whole business makes me want to return my iPhone and iPad for full refund. The terms of ownership have changed significantly since time of purchase, and frankly it feels like a privacy bait-and-switch.
I'm curious if there any possibility of a small claims case forcing such a return.
- acdha 5y agoWhen you signed up for iCloud, did you read the terms of service? They specifically require you to not to use them for illegal purposes and I’m sure they’d argue that everyone in the industry scans cloud storage and this change is only shifting when they make this check. I would really not expect that claim to go very far.

- ursugardaddy 5y agowell now they can argue everyone in the industry already scans locally on device for illegal content, not a huge step a few years from now: "it's been such a success we're going to do it everywhere for everything now"
