With the noble excuse of "protecting the children" they are just opening the vector that will allow them to go for other stuff in the future. I think this is just the first step and the intention is to make it "cognitively acceptable" for the majority of us later on.
At this point, I have no doubt that in the future, a more ambiguous excuse such as "hate speech" will be used and under that umbrella, the elites will have a huge margin for pursuing any kind of "dissidence".

- ashildr 5y agoThis vector has been opened for a while. Companies are not allowed to provide E2E encryption anymore, they have or will have (see EU) to scan every picture they host or transport for you.
- sebzim4500 5y agoThen how come so many companies provide E2E encryption? Are the signal devs about to be sent to Gitmo?
