Ask HN: Aside Apple (I guess?), where can someone *buy* music files in 2021?

A lot depends on your legal jurisdiction. 7digital is an option if you are in the US or the UK: https://us.7digital.com/ https://us.7digital.com/ https://uk.7digital.com/ https://uk.7digital.com/

Many years ago I bought some albums from their UK store, but with some workarounds (I’m from Brazil). I was hoping for RoW alternatives, but thanks!

  Bandcamp!

It’s a solid alternative, but it depends on the artist being there, right? For mainstream singers/bands, I guess that won’t work.

No single music download site has 'everything', even mainstream. You have to shop around, maybe a little.

Friendly reminder that CDs are music files, wrapped in a physical optical disc. For downloading, take a look at this list from Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_digital_music_stores https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_digital_music_...
