Sometime ago I read an article that described how the northern "dialect" of the English language becomes hurdle for upwards mobility in the UK. So, to some level there is still friction. And here I am talking about native northern English speakers.
- Zenst 5y agoYes that was very much the case, less so these days but dare say in some circles it still plays out akin to which school you attended etc etc. One sign of change though would be accents in adverts and what is being advertised. That I have noticed a change over the decades for the better.
