Thats a serious amount of electronics for a charger. I think it probably would have worked but Apple would have had to sell it at a ridiculously high price.

- baybal2 5y agoIt wouldn't have worked. Wireless charging is just that much impractical, but it rings that "magic" aspect with which Apple bought people who never seen a touchscreen.
- nomel 5y agoConsidering I bought a wireless charger for $10 on Amazon to charge my 3 year old phone, I think it’s on the real of possibilities.
- etempleton 5y agoYeah, I think they could have gotten it to work eventually, but a what cost. I think even Apple realized it was going to be too expensive and they probably began playing with the magnet idea and realized it was a bit more eloquent than trying to line up the phone properly on the mat each time. The number of times I put my phone on my wireless charger mat wrong and it doesn’t charge renders it an almost useless device. Sure I could carefully line it up each time, but then what make it superior to just plugging it in? The whole selling point is convenience. The wireless phone charger stands are better. The magnetic Stands better still.
