Kind Letter to Mozilla's Management
- nwah1 5y agoI think Mozilla should build an alternative cloud infrastructure and phone platform by assembling the various pieces they already have or that others have already built. These pieces need to be assembled correctly by a trustworthy organization. Without this there is no real value proposition. What's the point of using a privacy-focused browser to log onto websites owned by megacorps? I realize they killed off a lot of such projects like Firefox Send and Firefox OS. But they still have Firefox Sync, Mozilla Location Services, VPN, and so on. If they also offered a hosted OwnCloud instance that one could log into using one's Firefox account, an ActivityPub social network, and an email service, all with a single sign on, that would be amazing. Then they could dust off Firefox OS and actually succeed. They don't need market dominance. Bing is obscenely profitable with a tiny market share. They need sustainable revenue and a value proposition. They can't compete with the megacorps if they don't offer a similar suite of features.
