Pedophiles will just simply move to another platform now that this is public knowledge. Why knowingly expose themselves to the risk of using Apple devices when Windows, Android, Linux, etc. exist? Unfortunately, I doubt the (obviously) good parts of this will really have much impact. But the rest of us will be stuck with the inevitable false positives, increased security attack surface, and potential for govt abuse.

  Of course. That’s not my point. My point is that it won’t be effective at actually reducing child abuse as long as there are alternatives.

    Of course. This is exactly why companies like Google, Microsoft and Apple publicly announce these systems. They know it's impossible to stop people who have sufficient technical knowledge. Given that it can't be stopped, their choice is to have nothing to do with it.
