- samfromnz 5y agoIt’s next to Lake Wakatipu, which is “310 metres (1,020 ft) above sea level at the lake shore”. Not sure what the flood risk is, but it is surrounded by mountains.

- jacknews 5y agoWhy was he in Fiji anyway? What was the health emergency? I hope they are OK. Most likely it's all a coincidence, and once he was in NZ anyway, he completed the application. But if it wasn't just a coincidence, why the big hurry? * edit: He was in Fiji to 'ride out' the covid-19 pandemic. He applied for NZ residency 3 months ago. Discussions about the medivac have been ongoing 'for months'. So it appears this was not just some last-minute emergency, that just so happened to be a convenient opportunity to complete citizenship. Perhaps Fiji was a strategically planned choice too, given NZ was very closed at the time? NZ should make vaccination a requirement for citizenship, if not for entry.
