From having been involved in more than a few projects at more than a few places, some of which were as a firefighter on dumpster fire projects in otherwise OK companies: lots of developers only cost their companies money (only work on marginal projects that don’t get traction and are sunsetted, or just never reach production).
Being able to work on something actually valuable has better odds than any sperm fertilizing an egg, but you could spend a full career just costing your employer money. Don’t sweat it.
Do find a different place to work ASAP. This place sounds like a 0 or 1 on the Spolsky scale.
