Interesting study. After 12 years of ownership, I sold my car in 2017 and haven’t replaced it. At the time of sale my levelized cost of ownership was $9600/year or $1/mile. One benefit of not owning a car not mentioned in this study is the opportunity cost (and frustration) associated with car ownership. I no longer spend time looking for parking spots, doing maintenance tasks, getting inspections done, etc. if possible, I hope not to ever own a car again.
