I'll take the bait, these people are working towards a common misguided goal. why separate them?

  To me, the tone of the emails implies there is some internal disagreement and this is more of a top-down mandate with the code monkeys having to pull all-nighters for something they may not agree with. Unless you expect the people implementing this to quit on moral grounds which seems unfair. It’s also worth noting the non-Apple representative (whose interests closely aligning with this godforsaken “feature”) has a much more contemptuous, hard-lined tone than the actual Apple VP.
