Giant trial of Covid-19 treatments is restarting. These are the drugs
- tinus_hn 5y agoAre they at least patented and expensive? Otherwise this experiment is doomed from the start.
- scotty79 5y agoHow's Fluvoxamine trial going?
- criticaltinker 5y agoGlad to see initiatives like these receiving some attention again. There has been a trend of narrowing focus exclusively fixated on vaccines - despite the evidence that combinations of existing medicines can greatly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death, especially when COVID-19 patients are treated early [1][2]. The key is that many previous studies evaluated the effectiveness of specific drugs in a standalone regime. However a multidrug approach based on antibiotics, corticosteroids, and antithrombotics - and delivered early on in the symptomatic phase of illness - has tremendous potential to reduce poor health outcomes due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although the OP does not specifically mention this exact approach, this is a step in the right direction.
