Nasdaq’s Board Diversity Proposal Faces SEC Decision
- throwawaysea 5y agoThese types of requirements are literal institutional racism/sexism/etc and companies should just bail on the Nasdaq rather than cower before interference into their management practices. I also am not fond of the fact that only progressive notions of diversity are considered - sexual orientation is included but not ideological diversity or urban/rural diversity or whatever else. It’s just so random and arbitrary. This but is also laughable: > “We are pleased that the SEC has approved Nasdaq’s proposal to enhance board diversity disclosures and encourage the creation of more diverse boards through a market-led solution,” Nasdaq said in a statement Friday. How is it a market led solution when diversity requirements are being forced upon individual companies by a centralized institution? Nasdaq being private makes it about as “market led” as anti-competitive payment processors imposing constraints on merchants.
