I was thinking about a home setup. Opening the window lets in VOCs from outside, which the HEPA-filter is supposed to clean up. Seems a bit counterproductive or self-defeating, no? A more proper setup that you'd find in an office building is probably too expensive for home.
- fabianhjr 5y agoI open the back windows not the street facing ones
- fighterpilot 5y agoSure, but I just wonder about the effectiveness of a filter when we do that. If all of the air in the room is completely replaced with air from outside via the open window, then what does the filter achieve? It seems that there's a trade-off between lowering CO2 and lowering VOCs.
- fabianhjr 5y agoNot all, just the rate has te be somewhat balanced, there is definitely a breeze and the air filter helps mostly with PM and indoor sources.
- hollerith 5y agoHEPA removes only particulates, not VOCs and not CO2.
