What I want to know is why they decided to implement this. Are Apple just trying to appear virtuous and took action independently? Or was this done at someone else's request? For all the rhetoric about privacy coming from Apple, I feel that such an extreme measure would surely cause complaints from anyone deeply invested in privacy. And maybe they're just using words like "significant privacy benefits compared to previous techniques" to make it sound reasonable to the average user who's not that invested in privacy.
