I think it's better to say you don't have answers than to keep being wrong:
* no human-to-human transmision
* masks don't work -> masks hurt you -> masks are mandatory
* transmitted by a pangolin -> we don't know what the intermediary was
* it's racist to say it came from a lab -> it probably came from a lab
* restrictions for a few weeks -> restrictions for months, and maybe brought back seasonally
* it will all be over when x % get vaccinated -> we never said vaccines protect from infection, just bad reactions to covid

Were those statements published in a book titled "Pure and Incontrovertible Truths" or were they, like all human knowledge, subject to learning and changing? No? That's because the universe is a complex place that humans don't have all the answers for. I like that science gets better and better. I mean, feel free to put dung and leeches on your open wounds -- because that's how it USED to be, darnit! -- I'll stick to antiseptics and antibacterial ointments. And when science figures out something better and proves it, we'll use that!
