It’s hard to be a moral person. Technology is making it harder
- coding123 5y agoWe're in the attention economy. We've been A/B testing stealing people away from things they ought to be focusing on. Which is family and friends, not through social media, but through the telephone.
- lolgay2 5y agoThis article seems to be conflating morality with paying attention to people in need. I would call that “generosity”, perhaps. But when I see the word “moral” I think of things like: * keeping one’s promises * being honest * being fair in one’s dealings And I don’t see how Facebook or social media in general can affect that. In my mind, if someone needs encouragement to act moral, then that person is not truly moral.
