- xyzzyz 5y agoThere were plenty of empty beds in NYC hospitals. The hospital ship they brought was pretty much entirely unused.
- neartheplain 5y agoHospitals. The US military docked a hospital ship in New York Harbor during the peak of the initial outbreak. That ship remained almost entirely unused [0] while COVID-positive adults were being discharged from hospitals straight back to nursing homes, where they died and/or infected others. The emergency hospital established in New York's Javits Convention Center went similarly underutilized [1]. - bobmaxup 5y agoNew York is a large state. Just because there was a hospital ship harbored in the Hudson, doesn't mean you could fill it from nursing homes or emergency care facilities upstate.
- foolinaround 5y agoSome could have been sent? An attempt made?
- notsureaboutpg 5y agoThey should have stayed in hospitals and not gone back to understaffed nursing home facilities which couldn't possibly isolate COVID patients OR told patient's families the truth about COVID and suggested to them that they isolate patients with them as the PA official did while not telling others to do the same
- bobmaxup 5y agoIt is a hospital's job to keep beds open. They would shuffle people into nursing homes (or the street) without any direction to do otherwise.
