Blue Origin calls Starship ‘immensely complex and high risk’ for moon missions
- PaulHoule 5y agoSafety arguments about manned Starship have some salience. It seems to repeat some of the flaws of the STS in that there is no realistic plan to get away from a failing rocket.
- kiba 5y agoHaving an escape system doesn't mean the rocket's safer. Since these escape systems are rockets in themselves, and so they have the potential of killing the passengers.
- dev_tty01 5y agoIn 1961, Alan Shepard flew to 187 kilometers on NASA's little Freedom 7 pop rocket. In 2021, over 20 years after Blue Origin was started and 60 years after Freedom 7, Bezo's New Shepard capsule flew to 107 km. Perhaps Blue Origin should get their own house in order before they start criticizing their competitors.
