It stems from RIAA testimony reported on in the December article they linked to: https://torrentfreak.com/riaa-twitter-does-nothing-to-stop-the-industrial-scale-piracy-on-its-service-201216/ https://torrentfreak.com/riaa-twitter-does-nothing-to-stop-t.... From that article
>over a 10-month period, RIAA had to send notices for nearly 9,000 infringements of that same track – let me repeat that. We had to send 9,000 notices over a 10-month period for the same exact track. Unfortunately, we must do this all the time for hundreds of tracks on many different services
They don't like the onerous law, and want some content-id-style system like Youtube has. The one that auto-deletes static and birdsong.
From this article:
>“The only reasonable conclusion one can draw from your actions is that Twitter simply does not take copyright piracy seriously,” Senator Tillis wrote in a letter to Jack Dorsey at the time.
This quote shows that the senator believes that following the law is evidence that Twitter doesn't take copyright law seriously. Very revealing stuff.
