- javajosh 5y agoThe numbers as reported by the NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/florida-covid-cases.html There is an enormous spike happening right now. I believe it is because people have stopped wearing masks and social distancing, and the vaccination rate is ... actually not as bad as I'd expect (50%), but not enough to dampen new infection diffusion, especially given other practices. The political pushback is going to be an enormous factor. Gov. DeSantis panders to the GOP ignorant; this is, after all, Trump's home state.
