What I learnt from the comments here is that this is a highly emotional subject and many people are making strong assertions without the strong evidence to back up their claims - on both sides. If people from both sides could recommend books to read on this subject, I'd appreciate that more than the offhand comments. Specifically: it would be great to reach a consensus on a few books that argue the case that the economy relies on finite and nearly exhausted resources, and a few books that argue that technological advances will greatly increase the capacity of economic growth.
