It's kind of funny. I recall watching the recent Apple developer conference live on Youtube and the comments section had been turned off. What are these giant tech companies afraid of?
- Majestic121 5y agoComment sections on youtube are usually at best useless, and at worst very toxic. I would disable them as well, not because of 'being afraid of anything' but because it's a net loss to have them enabled, and nothing of value is lost if they are disabled.
- freebuju 5y agoWell that's just your own personal opinion. I consider real time audience feedback to hold some intrinsic value to the live presentation. The fact that you think that enabling comments would result in a net loss means that at the very least there is something to be afraid of.
- uranusjr 5y agoAre you confusing live chats to comments? My post (and your parent post) was about the comment section, which is not real-time. You can’t comment under a live event, only in its recording after the event has finished. The live chat section (appearing next to the video in the desktop web UI, not under) is what’s going real-time.
- freebuju 5y agoAh yes, sorry about that. Had a brain fart moment. I actually meant the chat section on the right was disabled during the live conference. Though, after any ordinary live stream has ended the chats usually are retained as chat history or comments if you will.
- dolmen 5y agoNotice that vaccine companies don't make videos at all.
- freebuju 5y agoAm sure they have promo videos for their clients (governments/health orgs). Unless there is a direct-to-consumer vaccine on the market that am not aware of.
