Modern brain science cannot effectively treat every mental health problem with drugs and "good doctors" cannot effectively treat every patient. If you are benefitting from treatment by a "good doctor" then I'm happy for you, but this idea that science has a drug that actually works for all problems is far from the truth.
- bserge 5y agoI am benefitting?! I am desperate for a prescription more like. Doesn't matter, soon it might be over.
- anotherman554 5y agoI'm sorry, I misunderstood your post. I hope you do not hurt yourself. I don't know your circumstances but there are hotlines you can call to talk to someone. In case you have not seen it, Scott Alexander (a psychiatrist) has a resource on antidepressent supplements here: https://lorienpsych.com/ https://lorienpsych.com/ also here: https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/06/16/things-that-sometimes-help-if-youre-depressed/ https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/06/16/things-that-sometimes-... Wherever you live there are also suicide prevention hotlines you can try calling.
- anotherman554 5y agoOh, just wanted to add I don't know anything about your healthcare system but in America a family doctor can prescribe antidepressants. In my experience they have no problem giving you a prescription you had before from a psychiatrist. I noticed you said in another post you can't find a psychiatrist. I'd try the family doctor route if you haven't already.
