Google’s time crystal discovery is so big, we can’t fully comprehend it

- alabamacadabra 5y agoIt’s not. The discovery is that they can use the eigenstates (basically think of an eingenstate as like when a top is actually spinning, it has some symmetry in regards to both it’s structure (the left and right look the same) and also in space, in that it’s changing positions but not breaking symmetry, unlike a butterfly or a bird might in regards to the Time dimension) in such a way that it’ll allow them to measure other changes or spatial changes vs. temporal, and so on. Honestly this was apparent from the the discovery of the time crystals themselves, some 6 years ago. These people aren’t terribly bright. Further: this isn’t even one of the more clever things to do with a time crystal. I think they can’t attract REAL talent. Just workers.

- threshold 5y agoThis kind of thing is why Google is my favorite company
