The decommissioning of a ship got me to thinking of the lifecycle of buildings dedicated to business. The large buildings dedicated to a single company where tens of thousands of person-years of adult life by good people were spent. Sometimes I think that these buildings deserve a formal decommissioning, maybe even a desacralization. Or perhaps a Bastille-ization in some cases.
