I have never hired a contractor based on anything online or ads, reviews, etc. It's always word of mouth, talking to neighbors and friends, talking to contractors I've been happy with (even if they are in a different trade than I need for the next job, they know people and they can make referrals). Also in my experience, contractors loathe technology. They work by phone calls and texts at the most.
