    Well, it kinda spoils some/most of book 1. But IMHO the book 2 is the best and most intriguing anyways and that is totally unaffected...

    Eh, it's hinted at, pretty early on. If you knew there were aliens in the book, I don't think it's THAT huge a spoiler.
