I would have thought the easiest way to land a job at google these days would be to start a blog, become a 'thought leader', start a few important open source projects, etc, that kind of thing.
- kenjackson 15y agoThat gets you an interview. Blogs let you know you're a good writer, but that's about it. Open source contributions can say a lot, but may not. DarkShakira's work, for example, probably darn near gets him a job. 99% of what I see on GitHub probably doesn't.
- nostrademons 15y agoThough ironically, not a Google+ account. ;-) (Side note: who's DarkShakira? A search for [darkshakira github] yielded only this comment.)
- kenjackson 15y agoSpelled his name wrong: http://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=DarkShikari http://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=DarkShikari He's lead dev on x264. Very impressive contributions. I have trouble believing Google would push back much if they oould get him working on WebM.
