I would enjoy a summary of the economy of that building. Obviously almost all goods are imported, but where's the money coming from? Is it a bunch of retirees?

I would enjoy a summary of the economy of that building. Obviously almost all goods are imported, but where's the money coming from? Is it a bunch of retirees? People working remotely? People burning their savings?
- SideburnsOfDoom 5y agoThere are some details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whittier,_Alaska https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whittier,_Alaska it seems like: cruise ships, tourism, port. Former Army base. Not clear if the "petroleum products terminal" and pipeline is still in use.
- pxeboot 5y agoLots of fishing and tourism jobs. And they have a year-round port where containers are loaded onto the train to Anchorage.
