It's impossible for the virus to disappear via vaccines at a global level. The bubonic plague is still around. An attempt would probably destroy multiple developing worlds economies. It's probably possible for a developed country with strong borders and checks like NZ but borders mostly are very leaky and ... Problematic. NZ will have to vaccinate enough and then live with it being part of life if it wants to open up to the world.
