- shepting 15y agoHowever, saying "bullshit" with his disclaimer at the bottom, I'm also the original author of "High Performance MySQL" published by O'Reilly Media certainly lends more credibility to his statements than many other people (Bob Warfield for example).
- i_crusade 15y agoIt's called "Argument from authority" and he will probably succeed with his argument.
- ubernostrum 15y agoIf someone is known to have a high level of knowledge on or experience with a topic, then giving weight to that person's opinions on the topic is not a bad thing to do. (also, I'm tempted to label comments like yours "argument from informal fallacy" -- you've offered no actual critique of any actual arguments, you've just named an informal fallacy, apparently in hope that people will take that in itself as an argument)
- jzawodn 15y agoPerhaps the videos and slides I linked in the comments (all previously published on my blog as well) help in that department?
