Livestock takes up about 40% of the habitable land on earth (80% of all agriculture land) to supply only 20% of global calories (https://ourworldindata.org/land-use https://ourworldindata.org/land-use). The world is producing 3 times more meat than it was 50 years ago so we're eating much more than we used to as well (https://ourworldindata.org/meat-production https://ourworldindata.org/meat-production).
Animal products clearly aren't substantial, are destroying ecosystems, and taking up a crazy amount of land that could be rewilded.
People generally don't want to hear about this and would rather discuss things like "wildlife atop city buildings", non-industry farmed animals (which take up even more land) and technological solutions (which we don't have time to wait for) instead.
