For me, 'office days' as you'd see in a university also works well. At work, people value and like to request my input on various architectual or technical things, so managing interuptions besides some technical tasks can be a challenge. As such, I've been pushing all of these discussions and meetings to tuesday afternoon, or maybe thursday afternoon on some weeks. Sure, there might be 6 or 8 different topics on that afternoon, but that's fine with decent meeting culture and some preparation.
