I wish I read this article in 2012. I enjoyed programming, but never considered it a career. It was my passion, I didn't have any expectation or desire to make money from it.

I'm driven in my career by passion, not a desire for income (I've never been particularly money-motivated -- not saying that's good or bad. It's just how I am.) If the passion burns out, so does my whole career.
