Is that perspective? Refrigerators use like 200-300W an hour, and every family has one of those. And computers sleep when not in use. Should we prohibit more than one fridge per household?
- floatingatoll 5y agoRefrigerators had this kind of regulation applied to them decades ago, which is why they only use a restively necessary amount of power instead of the nightmare of waste that they used to be.

- Symbiote 5y agoThis budget-brand fridge averages 17W over a year of use, and it only manages an "F" rating for energy use. The EU regulated refrigerator power use decades ago. https://www.beko.co.uk/tall-larder-fridge-lsp3671d-black-silver-white https://www.beko.co.uk/tall-larder-fridge-lsp3671d-black-sil...
- brnt 5y agoOur house uses about 4-5 kWh/day (excl. heating). Other than making sure we replace broken appliances with power efficient ones, we have not made any particular effort.
- errantspark 5y agoYou're using the wrong units and you're off by more than an order of magnitude. A decent large fridge will use like 500Wh/day.
