- iamtheworstdev 5y agoonly if the engine doesn't need lead for lubrication of the valves/anything else
- throwawayboise 5y agoThere are other additives that can provide that, the question would be do they have FAA approval.
- sokoloff 5y agoLead does not lubricate the valves, though that's a common misconception. https://www.avweb.com/features/pelicans-perch-55lead-in-the-hogwash/ https://www.avweb.com/features/pelicans-perch-55lead-in-the-... (The fine author of this article sadly passed away earlier today.)
- Syonyk 5y ago> The fine author of this article sadly passed away earlier today. Aw! :( I hadn't heard that yet. I'll have to read through Pelican's Perch again. So much knowledge, so densely collected.
- seabrookmx 5y agoAviation gasoline or "avgas" is _only_ used for piston aircraft. Fuel for turbines is closer in makeup to Kerosene than it is gasoline, whether it's a traditional turbofan or a turboprop like you'd see on a Dash-8.
- throwawayboise 5y agoBuffalo is famous for flying old DC-3s and some other small "bush" planes that are piston-engined.
- GekkePrutser 5y agoAre they really using the old rotary engines? The only DC3s I've seen still flying were turboprop conversions with noticeably different engine nacelles of course. Never seen them for passengers but there was a geo survey company operating in the area that used them. Really cool aircraft to see.
