All the mainstream stuff is extremely artificial tasting and gross. Spiced is bad too. Bacardi, Kraken, Captain Morgan, etc. Havana Club, Appleton, Mount Gay are all fine. The best intro for sipping neat for most folks is probably Ron Diplomatico, it's on the sweeter side. There is much, much greater breadth and depth to rums than whiskeys and scotches.
