It might be worth adding that Blind app (and to a lesser degree Ask HN) is littered with constant posts about depression, anxiety, burnout, and nihilism (centered around wealth accumulation with a lack of purpose).
- ctvo 5y agoIs that uncommon? The most unhappy people, for whatever reason, are the loudest. There are likely many more developers who are happy and silent. The problem with Blind is it attracts the former group almost exclusively. I'm happy at my job, downloaded Blind once to see the content, and deleted it almost immediately. I have no interest in reading toxic posts by anonymous folks struggling at my company.
- runawaybottle 5y agoI give a fair amount of credence to it because an understated element of software career at the moment is that is high pressure. The truth is most likely in the middle, as usual.
