Let me clarify - it was when I bought the car new and owned it for only 4 years. Pretty sure the situation might have changed now once the model was replaced by the B6/B7 and as the Mk4 Golf aged out of warranty. The Corolla had after market parts was readily available a few months after I bought it new.
